Steve McVey

Driven by a deep passion for rural and small-town ministry, Steve founded Dirt Roads Network to plant and revitalize life-giving, Bible-believing, and community-transforming churches across rural America. Since its launch in 2018, the network has been equipping and supporting pastors to bring renewal to small communities nationwide.

Before leading Dirt Roads Network, Steve pastored Lamont Wesleyan Church in the rural town of Lamont, Kansas, from 2000 to 2020. Under his leadership, the church grew from just 30 attendees—on the verge of closure—to a thriving regional church of 400. During this time, the church launched a satellite campus and planted three additional churches, sparking Steve’s vision of rural America as a vital mission field.

A gifted teacher and visionary leader, Steve advises denominational leaders on church planting and revitalization in rural settings. Committed to raising up an "army of rural missionaries," he inspires and equips pastors to embrace a missionary mindset in their communities.

Steve and his wife, Samantha, have been married since 1989. They are proud parents of two grown children—Andrew (married to Kendra), who lives with their three children in Hutchinson, Kansas, and Rebekah (married to Tyler), who resides in Westfield, Indiana.
